Trinity Memo 8.23.22

Students:

Students are experiencing their first semester schedules. There is a two-week add/drop policy.

Softball players: please return your uniforms by this Friday, Aug. 26, if you have not done so already!

The annual freshman/sophomore mixer is scheduled for the afternoon and evening of Friday, September 9. All freshmen and sophomores need to plan on attending. The class sponsors are planning a great mixer!

General:

Today we begin our 15th year of covenantal and Protestant Reformed secondary education. We give thanks for God’s faithfulness. Rev. Brummel will lead us in convocation at 11:30. All are welcome to join us.

We welcome new staff member Miss Faith Hoksbergen. Miss Hoksbergen is from our Randolph PRC. She is currently a senior education major at Dordt University. Miss Hoksbergen is teaching our Algebra II students as part of her practicum. She is under Mr. Westra’s mentorship.

The junior and senior classes are planning to host a pancake breakfast the morning of Labor Day. More information will be in next week’s memo.

Everyone is invited to the Parents Circle fall meeting on September 21.  This will include a speech by Rev. Eriks titled: Parenting Teens: Lose the Attitude.

The Parents’ Circle still has a few committee openings.  We are in urgent need of people to help with the fall harvest sale.  If you can help please sign up here, or e-mail Jason Westra at jwestra@trinitychs.org.

The Parents’ Circle is planning the fall harvest sale once again this year.  If you helped plan the harvest sale in the past and still have the information folder, please let Jason Westra.

Trinity received a letter from the Iowa High School Athletic Association congratulation us for being among the 57% of Iowa high schools who had zero player, coach, or fan ejections during the 2021-2022 athletic seasons. Let’s enjoy another season of good sportsmanship in 2022-2023.

We welcome Mr. Mike De Jager as our new athletic director. He brings a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm to our athletic program. Let’s give him good support by helping as we are able at home games.

School Resource Officer SRO Pollema from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office will be serving Trinity this year on a trial basis. His service will mainly entail being a presence in the building two or three days per month.

Trinity is in need of a robotics coach. Please contact Mr. Regnerus if you are interested in the position.

FALL SPORTS have officially kicked off as of Monday, Aug 8 and our volleyball and cross country teams have been practicing and we look forward to their first competitions.

  • Our Volleyball program consisting of 25 girls and are coached by Jon Mooy, Tonia Westra, and Janae Van Maanen!
  • Our Cross Country program consisting of 6 runners are being coached by Becky Uittenbogaard, who enters into her first season of coaching!

If and when you have the opportunity, please extend a THANK YOU to each of our coaches for their service.

 

*As in past years, all parents of Trinity students will be assigned to help by taking admissions. I will send out a schedule and then reminders. If a certain time doesn’t work for you, please switch with someone.

Passes for home games will be available for purchase at the admissions tables.

  • Family All-Sport passes are $230
  • Individual All-Sport passes are $125
  • Student All-Sport passes are $55
  • Volleyball Only family passes are $75.
  • Admissions for a single game is now $6 K-Adult per the conference.

Schedule looking ahead:

Volleyball:

  • Friday, August 19: ALUMNI GAME – We have some alumni returning to play our current volleyball teams and we invite you to help welcome back all our former players.  Food will begin at 6:00 with the first serve of the game at 6:45. The admission for this game is a freewill donation with all proceeds going to the Junior class fund, who will be working the evening.  We are looking forward to a fun night at TCHS to help kickoff our season!
  • Monday, August 22: JV Tournament @ George-Little Rock. Their first game begins at 4:00.

Cross Country:

  • First meet is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Hull.

Alumni Game on Friday, May 20

The concession stand will be open for the alumni game this Friday and will be serving burgers/hot dogs with side along with some Cold Stone Ice Cream!  Come out and enjoy the kickoff for summer!!

Also, please check out the new baseball/softball concession stand schedule on the website.  If you need to make any trades just let your concession stand leader know of any changes.  Thanks for all your help!  It’s greatly appreciated!

Trinity Memo 5.16.22

Students:

Graduation exercises for the 11th graduating class of Trinity Christian High School will be held tonight, Monday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. The graduation will be held at the high school, and Rev. Laning will address the graduates from their class text of I Timothy 4:12. Everyone is welcome to join us in this milestone of our covenant young people.

Congratulations to Brooke Meyer on Clarinet and Marissa Westra on piano who will be performing at the Outstanding Performance Showcase in Ames on Tuesday, May 17. They received this honor by their performance at the State Solo & Ensemble contest.

There is a lost-and-found table overflowing with treasures. The table is in the hallway right near the bathrooms.

Please check around the house and in vehicles for items such as books and uniforms that need returning to Trinity.

Exams are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Students may come in time for their first exam, and they may leave after their last exam; but they may not be leaving and returning between exams.

Final grades will be emailed out no later than noon on Friday, May 27. Continue reading
